What is Semantic Search?
The Semantic Web takes the World Wide Web (WWW) as we know it one step further by defining the semantics of information and services that are offerd. This makes it possible for machines to understand the requests of humans better and therefore provide them with better services. One of the Areas where huge improvents can be expected is the Area of Search Engines, who are very limited by their lack of understanding the information that they process.
A computer does not know that "Apple Macintosh" can mean either a fruit or a computer. Upcoming Semantic Search Engines will improve the accuracy of their search results by using semantic query enhancement to narrow down the search queries and therefore increase the relevancy of their results. A Search for Apple will deliver exactly what the user wants to know about.
